Unai Emery was given a three-year deal by the Arsenal board and will extend it if the Spanish manager could impress in those years. He comes to a club which has been under the reign of Arsene Wenger for 22 years who was favoured by the Arsenal top officials in the time he has spent at the club.
Arsenal fans are very happy because they have finally felt how it is to get a new manager who you will hope turns things around at the club. It’s been reported by The Times that the Arsenal board wasn’t sure and confident of Unai Emery, so they added a break clause stating that the club won’t pay him any amount if they decide to sack him before the end of his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The gunners have learnt from the mistakes of Manchester United because the Manchester club appointed David Moyes as their next manager after the departure of their legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, the red devils sacked the former Everton boss before the end of his first season but lost a lot of money because of that because they had to pay him the amount he would have earned in the six-year contract they had given him if he was at the club.
Arsenal board is known to be stingy when it comes to spending money because the new gunners boss is earning peanuts compared to other top Premier League managers but he accepted the deal so he may wish to say that they should increase it if they extend his deal at the club. Meanwhile, Unai Emery is soon completing his first signings at the club as they are said to have completed talks with Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
