The current summer transfer window have been filled with a lot of drama right from its opening day. Arsenal have been linked with a host of players but the Dembele saga seems to be the trending news for the North London club.
Arsenal have been reportedly handed a big boost in their chase for Frenchman Ousmane Dembele.
Arsenal who are 20/1 to lift the Premier League according to 10Bet sports betting odds have also been linked with Bayern’s Coman but Dembele deal looks more likely Arsenal is believed to be optimistic as Dembele’s agent, according to Football London, scheduled a meeting with Barcelona management to discuss the player’s future.
Unai Emery have admitted that he needs a high-profile player despite signing goal keeper Benerd Leno, right back Stephen Lichsteiner, central defender Sokratis Papastashopolous as well as the midfield duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer.
A new wide-man is reportedly on the list as the North London club have lacked quality at the wings since the departure of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcoot in the last transfer window. Alexis Sanchez joined rivals Manchester United while Walcoot joined Merseyside team Everton. Emery is believed to be interested in a wide-player and is ready to sell the likes of Joel Campbell, Chuba Akpom and even center forward Lucas Perez in a bid to raise funds for his transfer plans.
Dembele have emerged a target as he reportedly linked with a move to the Emirates stadium in recent times according to reports. Uncertainty seems to have surrounded the fate of the Frenchman with the recent acquisition of Malcom from Bordeaux last week. The France international who joined the Catalonia club from Borussia Dortmund in a big money move have failed to cement his place at the Camp Nou with injuries and misfortunes surrounding his first 12 months the club.
TeamTalk carried quotes from journalist Charlie Watts that suggest that Sven Mislintat sees Dembele as Arsenal dream signing as the head of recruitment is to have a relationship with the France international dating from their time in Germany.
The journalist is quoted as saying by Team Talk
“Dembele on his own would cost far more than whatever money comes in from those potential sales. Mislintat would love Dembele, that would be his dream signing and he would slot in perfectly as well. But unless Barca decide to send him out on loan, it’s not going to happen.”
Arsenal blogs claim that Mislintat has a close relationship with the Frenchman having being the man who brought him to Dortmund in 2016 as well as constant communication.
Arsenal’s chances of landing the player seems to have increased as the Dembele’s agent according to Football Londoncite sport is reportedly fixing a meeting with Barcelona management discuss Dembele’ future with the club. Arsenal will be expecting the most favorable news out of the meeting but it will be interesting to see Arsenal’s bid.
The North Londoners have never signed a player on a Premier League record fee but they will have to splash the cash to get Ousmane Dembele and if they are not able to finance the deal, they can get the Frenchman on loan.
