Alan Smith Praises Unai Emery’s Boldness
Alan Smith says that he has observed that Unai Emery is a manager who doesn’t hesitate at dropping or substituting players if they don’t perform well in matches.
Despite Arsenal experiencing the worst start to a season since 26 years ago after losing to defending champions Manchester City and London rivals Chelsea consecutively, Alan Smith has heaped praise on the new Arsenal boss Unai Emery and believes the Gunners will likely get their first win against the Hammers tomorrow with the help of midfield maestro, Mesut Ozil.
Alan Smith believes Unai Emery was right to substitute Özil at the middle of the game when Arsenal faced Chelsea last weekend in the second match of the Premier League season and he is confident that the midfielder will prove himself against West Ham United.
Speaking to Evening Standard, he said “If we can learn anything from Unai Emery’s first two games in charge, it’s that he won’t hesitate hooking players, no matter their reputation.”
With the replacement of Özil at the 68th minutes, it serves as a warning to fellow teammates that every player is immune to substitution at any time of the game under Emery because the Spaniard needs a perfect game.
Ozil will have a nice game if West Ham United play a defensive game come Saturday according to Alan Smith because the German international will have got enough space to create chances for Arsenal.
