Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been at the Emirates Stadium for five years now after making a big money move from Real Madrid but his form has declined in the last two years.

The Arsenal midfielder had one of the worst seasons in the 2017/18 campaign and this poor performance was attributed to the contract renewal saga which saw him force the club to offer him a lucrative new deal. Mesut Ozil was then called up by the Germany national football team for the FIFA World Cup but he performed poorly in it and his country used him as a scape goat.

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas believes that Mesut Ozil might leave the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window if Unai Emery receives a good offer because the German playmaker hasn’t been impressive for the gunners so far.

“If his performance isn’t improved by January and a decent offer comes in, Arsenal will let him go.” Charlie Nicholas is quoted by Metro.

“It keeps coming up that Fenerbahce and these sort of clubs would be interested in looking at him.”

The former Arsenal star says that he doesn’t know whether Fenerbahce would financially afford signing Mesut Ozil but says that the 29-year-old could even make a move to China and he believes that Unai Emery will frankly tell Ozil that he has to leave if he doesn’t perform as required.

Arsenal’s new boss Unai Emery has already showed that he won’t be pampering the fan favourite players after he boldly told Jack Wilshere that he is free  to leave the Emirates Stadium so there might not be any special treatment for individual players. There has already been reports that Mesut Ozil and Unai Emery had an argument in training a few weeks ago but the Arsenal boss angrily denied those rumours.
