Arsenal 3-1 Leicester City Match Report
Arsenal has beaten Leicester City 3-1 thanks to goals from Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2). So it’s 10 wins in a row for the gunners.
The gunners have made it 10 wins in a row after getting an impressive 3-1 win against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Mesut Ozil and two from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made sure that Unai Emery goes home with a smile on his face.
The Arsenal players must have come into this match with fear due to the fact that this was the last fixture in the Premier League game week nine, the gunners looked unstable in the first 15 minutes with many blind passes, not able to hold onto the ball and couldn’t even attack. They however became stable later but failed to score as the Foxes kept putting pressure on them.
Leicester City’s pressure finally paid off after Chilwell’s cross got deflected by Hector Bellerin and went straight to the back of the net because Bernd Leno wasn’t able to save it. This goal was now a wake up call to the Arsenal players as they now attacked more and more to get an equalizer.
Just as the first half was about to get concluded, a great counter attacking move started by Ozil saw Arsenal sprint towards the penalty box of Leicester City and the German international sent in a through ball to Hector Bellerin who passed the ball back to him and he scored by beautiful low shot which left the Leicester goalkeeper helpless. The first half ended 1-1.
The second half started off on a different tune than the first half because Arsenal had now taken full control of the game and now looked for more goals but the Leicester City players stayed firm and hoped to use counter attacks as their game plan to win this match.
The gunners failed to get the second goal even though Alexandre Lacazette and Mkhitaryan did get some good chances. Unai Emery decided to bring in Matteo Guendouzi and Aubameyang who replaced Stephan Lichtsteiner and Mkhitaryan.
The two substitutes proved to be very important as the gunners got their second goal minutes later in a well calculated move which saw Mesut Ozil send a through ball to the right, and Hector Bellerin was able to get it and sent in a cross to Aubameyang who scored to take the gunners into the lead.
Three minutes later, the gunners scored their third goal of the day and it was the same man; Aubameyang who this time got assisted by Mesut Ozil (who by the way was Arsenal’s captain today). Leicester City players lost hope after Aubameyang made it 3-1 and now resulted into defending since the gunners were still looking for more goals.
Unai Emery brought in Aaron Ramsey who replaced Mesut Ozil in the last minutes of the game. So it’s 10 wins in a row for Arsenal’s new boss Unai Emery.
