Mesut Ozil Reveals Why He Loves Arsenal Fans
Mesut Ozil has been at the Emirates Stadium for about five years now and he has managed to become one of the fan favourites at the North London club.

Mesut Ozil arrived at Arsenal in the 2013 summer transfer window and the German international has become one of the fan favourites at the North London club as he has even been nicknamed “Assist King” by the Arsenal fans. Mesut Ozil arrived at the Emirates when the gunners had spent many years without winning any trophy but he has helped them win three FA Cups in his five-year stay.
Mesut Ozil’s arrival at Arsenal surprised the fans because Arsene Wenger was always criticised for failing to sign world-class players but signing him from Real Madrid showed some seriousness in the French coach. Mesut Ozil’s first match at the Emirates Stadium was against Stoke City and the midfielder has revealed why he loves the Arsenal fans for the support he received that day.
“In the game you don’t really realise so much because you’re concentrating and want to give everything on the pitch but I had friends and some of family sending me videos on the underground before the game against Stoke where they were singing this song.” Mesut Ozil told Arsenal.com.
“It was crazy to hear and I was really, really happy because it was the first time the fans had a song for me. Thank you for that and I really appreciate it. It’s crazy. I can just say: thank you guys and thank you for supporting. It’s been a lot for me, of course.”
Many football pundits have often called Mesut Ozil a lazy player but he has however always said that he doesn’t mind what they say because he believes that the Arsenal fans know his playing style.
Mesut Ozil is still one of the most loved players at Arsenal up-to now even though he hasn’t been impressive as in the past but the fans will be hoping to see him get back to his best in their upcoming matches. There were reports in the first few weeks into the new season which claimed that Ozil was unhappy about being played out of position by Unai Emery but he has since cleared the air saying that he is happy to play in any position which the boss wants.
