Stephan Lichtsteiner Goes Into Arsenal History Books
Arsenal right back Stephan Lichtsteiner arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer and he scored his first goal for the gunners last night.
Stephan Lichtsteiner arrived at Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer from Italian champions Juventus. He said that he was happy with Arsenal for giving him such an opportunity to play for them even though he is very old.
Stephan Lichtsteiner was in the starting eleven that faced League One side Blackpool at the Emirates Stadium last night and he scored Arsenal’s first goal after he flicked the ball from Matteo Guendouzi into the back of the net in the first half. This was Stephan Lichtsteiner’s first goal for the gunners at the Emirates Stadium but that wasn’t the only thing about that goal because he also went into Arsenal’s history books.
“Stephan Lichtsteiner is the oldest player to score a competitive goal for Arsenal since Sol Campbell scored aged 35 years 152 days against FC Porto in February 2010.”
Arsenal fans will be hoping to see more great performances from Stephan Lichtsteiner in the future because he has shown that he can improve on his playing style. The Arsenal fans said that he was too slow in his first appearances for the gunners but he has since rectified that as he nowadays is very fast on his flank. His goal against Blackpool required him to be very fast and he did and scored.
