Unai Emery Praises Bernd Leno For His Performance Against Wolves
Arsenal boss Unai Emery made four main saves on Sunday when the gunners faced Wolverhampton at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal made a 1-1 draw with Wolves this weekend and even though Mkhitaryan was the one who scored the goal that got the gunners the one point, we can’t ignore the performance of Bernd Leno because he literally saved the gunners many times during the game.
Arsenal played poorly against Wolves on Sunday because the gunners looked very relaxed in the first half and the first goal Unai Emery’s men conceded was because Granit Xhaka failed to make a complete pass which resulted into a counter attack hence Calaveiro putting the visitors into the lead. The second half was more of a frustrated Arsenal trying to look for an equalising goal but their attacking moves were all properly stopped by Wolves.
Wolves took advantage of Arsenal’s poor attacks and made counter attacks which required Bernd Leno to be at his best in the last minutes of the game. One of his impressive saves was when he was left exposed after a Wolves attacker faced Leno in a one on one situation but the German international stopped the ball using his belly.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery was happy with the performance of Bernd Leno and he said in his press conference that the German international was the right goalkeeper suited for this match.
“We knew that today we needed the goalkeeper with his performance, because when we are taking risks in our attacking moments.” Unai Emery told Arsenal.com.
“To give them a transition and options in the transitional moments we would need the goalkeeper. Today I thought his performance was good for us.”
