Granit Xhaka arrived at Arsenal some time back but the gunners recently signed Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira in the summer transfer window. These two have been outstanding despite the criticism which Unai Emery got after signing them yet they were not well-known players to some people.

Granit Xhaka was first paired with Matteo Guendouzi in the first three Premier League matches of Arsenal and the gunners won only one of those three games, the problem of pairing these two together is that they both sometimes leave the back line exposed which results into conceding goals. In the previous seasons, it has been clear how Granit Xhaka likes going forward even if he is played in the defensive midfield role and it seems like Matteo Guendouzi is just like him, the youngster makes attacks into the final third hence leaving the Arsenal defence without cover, even though he does try to run back but it’s dangerous for him to recklessly be going way forward into the opposition’s half. I think we can say that Matteo Guendouzi plays similarly to Xhaka but unfortunately for him, he’s weak since he is just 19 years old. Matteo Guendouzi is a great young talent but he still has a big future ahead of him.

So let’s take a look at the combination of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira, these two have been good together because them having their different playing styles has been a blessing for Unai Emery because one brings stability in the midfield ( Torreira) while the other ( Xhaka) tries to assist the attacking midfielders as they look for goals. Granit Xhaka even said this too in an interview that he likes charging forward because he knows how there is Lucas Torreira behind him giving cover to the Arsenal defence.

Lucas Torreira’s performance against Liverpool showed how the Arsenal defensive midfielder is a precious player to Unai Emery because he totally helped the gunners in stopping most of the attacks by the Reds.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
