Matteo Guendouzi admits Unai Emery’s influence into him joining the gunners

Matteo Guendouzi arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Lorient in the summer after having been linked with the youngster after the gunners had just appointed Unai Emery as their coach. Everyone expected the Arsenal youngster to be sent to the Arsenal Under-23 squad but Unai Emery has surprisingly trusted the Frenchman and has kept him among the most important first team members.

Unai Emery was appointed as the head coach of Arsenal at the end of May and the transfer rumours linking the gunners to Matteo Guendouzi begun but the fans were however disappointed that he was looking to sign a youngster yet they needed experienced players to take them back to the Premier League top four. But Matteo Guendouzi has surprised many because he has turned out to be an outstanding player at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Matteo Guendouzi has been favoured by Unai Emery this season and the Frenchman has finally opened up how the new Arsenal boss convinced him to join the gunners in the summer. Guendouzi has admitted that Unai Emery is the main reason why he came to Arsenal this year and also spoke of how the Spanish boss is a great coach.

“Emery was definitely a reason why I went. It was him who really wanted me to come to Arsenal.”

“He is a very good manager, we have done very good results since the beginning of the season with him.” Matteo Guendouzi told Canal Football Club.

“He doesn’t come across as feeling under particular pressure, he is just doing what he loves to do. He has transmitted that to us on the pitch and that is why we are getting the results we are getting.”
