The gunners have two world-class strikers in their record books – Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the problem has been that they fail to use them together at times because of certain formations and tactics used in matches.
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has mostly been using the 4-2-3-1 formation but he however used the diamond 4-1-2-1-2 formation against Chelsea, hence Lacazette and Aubameyang partnering up as Unai Emery’s two front men. Unlike when Aubameyang was used on the wing while Lacazette played as a solo striker but the formation which Unai Emery used on Saturday seemed to have worked as the two strikers complemented each other in the final third.
The Arsenal fans have for long been urging Unai Emery to be using these two together as strikers instead of playing one as a winger and he finally made their wish come true last weekend. It seems like the Arsenal fans aren’t the only ones that liked it because Aubameyang was asked if he liked that formation that helped them get partnered up with Lacazette and he said;
“Why not? I hope. Sincerely, I hope so because when you have a striker like Alex near to you then he’s really good to play with. I hope we will play more games together.” said Aubameyang telling the Independent.
The gooners will be hoping that Unai Emery keeps up with this formation in the coming matches but it is unlikely because he has constantly been saying that each game has its own tactics.
