Report: Why Unai Emery must sign defenders
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is currently in a tough situation because the gunners are short of defenders because of injuries.
Arsenal’s quest for silverware has dealt a massive blow for many reasons as you have seen this season, watching them take to the pitch. Theirs is no denying the fact that one of Arsenal’s problems in this campaign is that of their defence.
This have been made worse after the injury to trusted players like Laurent Koscielny and the most recent of all in Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal 5-1 wallop by Liverpool was relative to poor defensive positioning as Mustafi picked up an injury that allowed a goal raid from prolific Liverpool side that possesses arguably the best attacking three combination upfront in the form of (Sadio) Mane, Roberto Firmino and (Mohamed) Salah.
The real question is does Arsenal need a defender at the moment. Your guess is as good as mine as Manchester United benefitted from this weakness to flourish at the Emirates.
The Arsenal football hierarchy including manager Unai Emery would be playing an expensive joke (games) against Arsenal chances this season as their defensive woes continue to downplay Arsenal’s general team potential.
United were not necessarily spectacular but Arsenal’s defensive weakness is a good news to any team most especially the top sides ( Spurs, Liverpool, United and particularly Manchester City) who have got great attacking players within their squads.
Arsenal must make signing defensively a priority because Hector Bellerin is out in the treatment room and Laurent Koscielny may soon join him.
Anything less than this may likely spell doom for Arsenal as they need reinforcement to readily navigate the rest part of the season as the case may be.
