Unai Emery gives negative update on injured Arsenal star
Arsenal started this season with a large squad which had so much depth but some of their players have got injured in each match in the last two months and that was one of the reasons why Arsenal’s unbeaten run ended at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.
Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has been on the sidelines for about five months but he recently returned last month in their last match of the UEFA Europa League group stages. The Frenchman started Arsenal’s match against Fulham last weekend because the gunners currently have injury problems and he was even selected in the starting eleven to face Blackpool on Saturday but he was withdrawn from the squad.
Laurent Koscielny watched the match from the stands as Arsenal progressed to the FA Cup fourth round and Unai Emery had a post-match press conference after the game, and he talked about a number of matters including what happened to the Arsenal captain. He confirmed that Koscielny has got a back problem.
“Yes [it’s a back problem]. I hope it’s not bad. He (Koscielny) has one week to rest and to work, thinking about the next match against West Ham.” Unai Emery told Arsenal Player.
“I hope he’s going to be OK for the next matches but before the match, he felt some pain in his back. We decided it was better for him to not play.”
Arsenal fans will hope that Laurent Koscielny returns back as soon as possible because they need him and it seems like Unai Emery is giving bad news to the gooners every after game because they keep losing players to injuries in the last two months. Arsenal’s next match will be against West Ham United and Koscielny could feature if his back problem isn’t that serious.
