Arsenal Vs Southampton Match Preview and injury updates
Arsenal will this weekend face Southampton and it will be a must win game for them in order to stay closer to the Premier League top four.
The Premier League is back and Arsenal will be looking to get into the Premier League top four after this weekend’s matches. Southampton will be making a visit to the Emirates Stadium and they will be hoping to steal three points from Unai Emery’s men so that they can avoid relegation since they are in the 18th position.
Arsenal will on the hand be hoping to get all the three points from this game so that they can go back to the Premier League top four since Liverpool are favourites to defeat Manchester United who are currently in the fourth position, with just one point ahead of the gunners. Southampton have always been a team that gives Arsenal a hard time because they play counter attacking football and are solid at the back.
Southampton ended Arsenal’s 22 game unbeaten run in December in a five goal thriller which saw Danny Ings and Charlie Austin score incredible headers to hand Ralph Hasenhüttl an incredible win against a top six side. The gunners will however be confident this time because most of their defenders are fit unlike the last time they met, whereby Unai Emery decided to use Granit Xhaka as a centre back because of injuries.
The latest Arsenal team news confirmed that Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin will all miss this match but Laurent Koscielny will be assessed before the game starts to determine whether he is fit to play. Southampton will also be without Danny Ings and Mario Lemina due to injuries but Michael Obafemi and Stuart Armstrong could be on the squad that travels to London.
