Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Torreira in the 2018 Summer transfer window and the Uruguayan international has turned out to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season. Forget his height and look what he does on the pitch, Torreira has shown the gunners that he is the player that they hoped Francis Coquelin would become.
The gunners signed Lucas Torreira for £26.4million from Sampdoria but he has surprisingly become a fan favourite at the club despite having been at the club for just seven months. Lucas Torreira has been impressive in most of Arsenal’s matches this season but he was outstanding in the home game against Tottenham Hotspur in which he scored the fourth goal, which brought emotions to most Arsenal fans, the Uruguayan was also impressive In Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
Lucas Torreira is contracted to stay at Arsenal until 2023 and that’s a short time since he will be needed in the years to come because he is just 23 years now. In an exclusive interview with Arsenal, he talked about his life and how he has loved the London city. Torreira claimed that he wanted to finish a long time in London and Arsenal fans will be happy to see this because they will be hoping to use him past the time he has in his current contract so they at least have the advantage of the player loving the place where the club is located.
“I devote my time to training and improving as a footballer. I live with my girlfriend and sometimes we go and visit all the emblematic things in town.” Lucas Torreira told Arsenal.com.
“London is one of the most important cities in the world and I feel very happy here. I am adapting to many new things and I hope I can stay in London for a long time.”
