Unai Emery provides positive update about injured Arsenal star
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery looked happy after his team scored three goals that took them into the UEFA Europa League round of 16.
Arsenal took on Bate Borisov on Thursday with the hope of qualifying for the Europa League round of 16 and they managed to do it thanks to a splendid performance. Arsenal head coach Unai Emery will be happy that his team went into the next round but he will however be disappointed that his captain Laurent Koscielny did not finish the match because of injury problems.
Laurent Koscielny was in the selected starting eleven to face Bate Borisov and he played the full first 45 minutes but he was however seen limping at the start of the second half hence Unai Emery replacing him with Sokratis Papastathopoulos who surprisingly went on to score a goal. Arsenal has this season been struck with constant injuries and the fans usually get worried when a defender fails to finish a game.
Laurent Koscielny was taken off and the medical staff was seen putting ice on his leg. Arsenal head coach Unai Emery faced the media after the game to provide his post-match thoughts about the performance of the team and he was also asked about Laurent Koscielny. The boss confirmed that it wasn’t that serious but he says that subbing him off was a precaution so that it doesn’t get worse.
“I think it’s precaution. We are going to wait until tomorrow. I hope he is OK for Sunday or the next week.” Unai Emery told Football.London.
“It’s muscular. He started to feel not good. I think it’s not bad, it’s only precaution because there was the possibility if he carried on it can be worse.”
