The gunners have this season been awful in terms of defending and this has cost them numerous times, even in their recently played game vs Bate Borisov in Belarus last week. Unai Emery’s men were not clinical in the attack and poor defending got the home side a goal that has put pressure on the North Londoners ahead of the second leg.
Arsenal will tomorrow welcome Bate Borisov at the Emirates Stadium and even though they have enough fire power upfront but their defence has been poor hence raising the risk for the visitors to get an important away goal. Arsenal head coach Unai Emery will hope that his team doesn’t let Bate Borisov get on the score sheet because it will put them on a lot of pressure.
Unai Emery has continually said that the gunners need to be pressing opponents because it is one of the things that are in his vision for Arsenal and Laurent Koscielny has also said this today in the press conference when speaking of how they need to improve their defence. The Arsenal defender says that defending needs to involve everyone including strikers.
“It is important that all the players on the pitch do their defensive job well.” Laurent Koscielny told Arsenal’s official website.
“It starts with our strikers when we want to press very high, it makes it easier for our defenders to win back the ball. It is a collective job and we need to be more consistent in this and work harder.”
