Why Unai Emery will bench either Lacazette or Aubameyang in Arsenal’s upcoming matches
Aubameyang and Lacazette have been in the starting eleven of Arsenal in their last two matches but Unai Emery could start benching one of them in their upcoming matches.

Arsenal is going to play eight matches in April and it is no secret that this set of fixtures will determine how Unai Emery’s first season has played out. The gunners are participating in the UEFA Europa League and the Premier League, and both of these competitions are very important, so let’s take a look as to why Unai Emery will either bench Aubameyang or Lacazette in the remaining matches of the season.
Arsenal’s main objective is to play in next season’s UEFA Champions League and they have two ways of qualifying; They can qualify for next season’s UCL by winning the UEFA Europa League or by finishing the season in the Premier League top four and Unai Emery will be hoping that they can try to do it from both ways because Arsene Wenger failed last season because he depended on the Europa League hence missing out on the UCL spots and getting knocked out by Atletico Madrid.
Lacazette and Aubameyang are Arsenal’s only fit strikers and both of them starting these eight matches in April will probably be a big mistake so gunners boss Unai Emery will try to keep rotating his squad, and use a formation that utilises one striker since one getting injured would mean that the other will play all the remaining matches of the season, hence getting worn out.
I expect Unai Emery to bench Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal’s match against Newcastle United on Monday in April and this won’t be a bad idea because their wins over Southampton and Bournemouth have seen them get all the six points when they started the game with only one forward.
It will be interesting to see if Unai Emery will take the risk of playing both Alexandre and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the eight matches that they will play in April including their UEFA Europa quarter final tie against Napoli.
