Arsenal unsure on whether to offer Koscielny a new deal
Laurent Koscielny has been at the Emirates Stadium for nine years now and it’s now reported that the club is unsure on whether to extend his contract.
Laurent Koscielny has been at Arsenal for nine years now and the fans love him so much because he has been a great servant to the club. Koscielny returned from an Achilles injury in December and has formed a great partnership with Sokratis who has been Arsenal’s best defender this season.
Laurent Koscielny’s current contract at the Emirates Stadium will expire at the end of next season and it’s now reported by L’Équipe ( via Sports Witness ) that the club is unsure whether to offer a new deal because of his injury woes and age. The gunners will try to overhaul their defence this summer according to reports and it seems like Laurent Koscielny could join Shkodran Mustafi on the list of players that will leave the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window. Koscielny is currently 33 years old and the Achilles injury could certainly stop him from playing a full season in the upcoming campaign since the Premier League is a very intense competition.
Arsenal will on Wednesday face Chelsea in the UEFA Europa League final and it will be Laurent Koscielny’s 405th match for the North London club. The gunners will be hoping he puts on a fantastic performance in this match because it could be his last and leaving with a trophy would be a fantastic way for him to end his service for the North London club. Arsenal will overhaul its squad in this transfer window and L’Équipe claims that the gunners could replace Koscielny with Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti. Koscielny has also attracted interest from AC Milan and Monaco.
