Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been ruled out for a month due to an ankle injury that he has been carrying since the Emirates Cup. This is a huge blow for Unai Emery as the Frenchman was an important member of the Arsenal squad.

The gunners played in the Emirates Cup two months ago and Alexandre Lacazette was subbed off in the first minutes of the game because he was involved in a challenge and Unai Emery did confirm a few weeks back that the French international had been playing while carrying this injury, so it looks like the club has decided that he first sits through the fixtures in this month. A statement released on the official Arsenal website read;

“Left ankle. After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness. Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October.”

Alexandre Lacazette is a fan favourite at Arsenal and this will surely upset the fans because he had already scored two goals and they wanted him and Aubameyang & Pepe to form an attacking trio so that will now have to wait a month before we finally see them playing together again. On the bright side, Lacazette’s injury will see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang play in his preferred striking position so hopefully, he stays fit throughout the whole month.
