The gunners haven’t been so active in the January transfer window so far but there has been a few names that have already been linked with a move to the North London club. Thomas Lemar has been widely been linked with a loan move to Arsenal in the last few days as Mikel Arteta awaits his first signing.

Thomas Lemar was a few years ago one of the hottest players on the transfer market and Arsene Wenger almost brought him to the Emirates for a huge sum of money but the transfer failed after the gunners failed to finalize it since the discussions reportedly begun on deadline because Arsenal had received a late bid from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez in the 2017 summer transfer window. Arsene Wenger was hoping that Thomas Lemar would have replaced Alexis Sanchez who’d wanted to leave Arsenal in that transfer window.

Thomas Lemar was very impressive at Monaco but he has however been average at Atletico Madrid despite having cost them £52.7million and current reports from Spain claim that Diego Simeone is not happy with the French international. The Independent has today released a report claiming that Thomas Lemar could make his way to North London on a loan deal of €6million after it has become clear that he is no longer in Diego Simeone’s plans.

The gunners are interested in a loan deal according to the report but they will however have to face competition from their arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur who are on the hand willing to make a loan offer with an option to buy him for €60million. Thomas Lemar can play as a winger and as a central attacking midfielder but he has however failed to get a goal and an assist so far this season which is very worrying for a player of his calibre.

Thomas Lemar could however give the gunners a different option in the starting or even on the bench as the gunners mostly had youngsters on the bench in their 2-0 win over Manchester United meaning they might find it hard to win games if their starting eleven doesn’t win them the game.
