The gunners are yet to sign any new players in this January transfer window even though it is very clear that their squad is not good enough. Mikel Arteta certainly has a few positions that he wants improving but the gunners will be working on a tight budget according to most reports. And so we take a look at the two players that could join Arteta’s Arsenal in this transfer window as per the reports that have linked them to a move to Arsenal.

1. BRUNO GUIMARAES

Bruno Guimaraes is a highly rated central midfielder who plays for Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense. The 22-year-old has attracted a lot of interest from a number of European clubs in this transfer window due to his impressive performances in the last few years and it looks like he is ready to make his big move to a club in Europe and Arsenal have heavily been linked.

Goal.com recently published a report claiming that the gunners were indeed interested in Bruno Guimaraes and that Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar was apparently holding talks with the agent of the Brazilian international over a possible move.  Athletico Paranaense requests £25.5 million for the player and Arsenal will face a lot of competition from Benfica.   Bruno Guimaraes would be a great addition for the gunners because he would be a great partner for Lucas Torreira or be the replacement for the Uruguayan international whenever he isn’t available.

2.  LAYVIN KURZAWA

Arsenal are in desperate need of a left back after injuries to both Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac have seen Mikel Arteta play 18-year-old Bukayo Saka as a left back. Even though Bukayo Saka did play as a left back at an early age but there is however fears of his development as a winger stalling if he kept playing in a position that he is no longer familiar with. The gunners have reportedly identified Paris Saint Germain left back Layvin Kurzawa as the perfect player to come in and play in this position since Tierney and Kolasinac are both injury prone.

Layvin Kurzawa’s current contract at PSG will expire at the end of the season and the gunners are reportedly hoping to secure him now in this transfer window for free and if not, then wait until the summer to sign him on a free transfer. It is very clear that the gunners need Layvin Kurzawa right now since Tierney and Kolasinac will be back by the summer and a report by The Athletic confirmed that talks led by Raul had begun.
