Mikel Arteta reveals what he has liked so far about the Arsenal team
It’s been two months since Mikel Arteta got appointed as the new head coach of Arsenal. The Spanish boss has spoken out on the progress made with the squad.
Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach at the end of December, 2019 and he has so far got three Premier League wins, two FA Cup wins and is also leading in their UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie with Greek side Olympiacos.
The gunners looked to be in free fall under the management of Unai Emery this season and the appointment of Freddie Ljungberg as the interim head coach didn’t help as the North Londoners continued to perform poorly but Mikel Arteta has however had a huge impact as the Arsenal team has begun trying to play entertaining football as it did in the past and he has also improved the defence which was deemed very poor in the first months of the campaign.
Arsenal defeated Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 and the Greek side will be coming to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow for the 2nd leg and Mikel Arteta faced the press to talk about that game but he has also asked what he has liked so far about the squad of the North Londoners.
“A lot of things happen in two months in many different areas of the club.” said Arteta as quoted by Football.London.
“I think the team is progressing well, the club is in a better place, we are getting much more unity on the sections of the club and as well a great energy back from the fans every time we play at the Emirates and away from the Emirates.”
Mikel Arteta worked under Pep Guardiola for three years and he has already showcased what he has learned from the Manchester City boss as the gunners are currently trying to play a similar system. It is going to be interesting to see how Arsenal performs in the coming months because they will be very important to see what can be expected from Mikel Arteta’s coaching career.
