Arsenal receive new hindrance in their pursuit of Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey has been impressive for Atletico Madrid this season and Arsenal have become interested in him but they however face a new hindrance in their pursuit of the Ghanaian international.

Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window and they’ve identified Thomas Partey as one of the players that would instantly improve them. Thomas Partey has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time but it’s now being reported that the North Londoners might face a new hindrance in their pursuit of the Ghanaian international.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will be looking to bring in the right players in the summer transfer window because he knows how his grace period will end when we begin next season and most reports have claimed that he wants Thomas Partey because he is not happy with Lucas Torreira being the only defensive midfielder in the squad.
Thomas Partey has been impressive this season and it’s now being reported by The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano who is very reliable that Arsenal could now lose out on the Ghanaian midfielder because Atletico Madrid have offered him a new deal that would see him stay at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2025. This is a big hindrance for the gunners as they had already made contact with the agent of Partey according to the same report.
Partey joined Atletico Madrid in 2013 and he has over the years established himself as a pivotal member of Diego Simeone’s side and it’s reported that he doesn’t want the 26-year-old to leave since he has been one of their best players in this campaign including a memorable UEFA Champions League performance against Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium. The gunners will however be happy that Partey is yet to accept the new deal from Atletico Madrid and the gooners will be hoping that their club does manage to convince him to join their project.
Thomas Partey has attracted a lot of interest in the last 12 months and so it’s no surprise that Atletico Madrid could try and tie him down to a new contract since he is currently earning only £65,000 a week wages but the report above says that they will be doubling his wages and removing his release clause from £43.6million to £87.2million. There have even been rumours that Arsenal could try and exchange Lacazette for Partey.
