Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will soon enter the final year of his current contract at Arsenal and it doesn’t look like he is close to agreeing on a new deal with the club and this has seen the fans get scared about the possibility of losing the Gabon international. Arsenal legend Paul Merson has come out with a strong warning to Aubameyang about the choice that he’ll have to make in the summer.

Aubameyang who is also the current captain of Arsenal has been at the club for two years and has been their best player during that period but the team has however failed to find success hence him hesitating to sign a new deal as he will soon be 31 years old and will definitely want some silverware before he retires hence there being the idea that this could be his last season at the Emirates Stadium.

Aubameyang hasn’t publicly been speaking about his future at Arsenal but there has been countless reports of him being linked with a move to other top European clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, Paul Merson who was a player for the gunners from 1985 to 1997 has issued a warning to Aubameyang, saying that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

“I was very fortunate to play for Arsenal for a long time and make no mistake about it, it’s a great club. The grass is not always green on the other side, you have got to be careful.” Merson told Sky Sports .

“Aubameyang is at an age now where he will play every week for Arsenal. If he goes to, say, Manchester United or somewhere else, four or five bad games and you are out of the team.”

“If I were Aubameyang’s agent I would be stressing that he is at one of the best clubs in the world, a phenomenal football club that has as much chance as anybody, bar Manchester City and Liverpool, winning something. For me, I would stay.”

Paul Merson also added that Aubameyang would play every game at Arsenal if he stayed and that you always want to enjoy your football in the last years of your playing career.

I am a very stubborn person who is always very argumentative in football discussions but I always win. I like writing about transfer news most.
