Former Arsenal striker speaks out on the player that will transform Arteta’s side
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has spoken out on the player that he believes will be able to transform Arteta’s side next season.
We still don’t know when next season will begin but that won’t stop people from looking forward to it. Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has spoken out on how the arrival of William Saliba will transform Mikel Arteta’s side next season.
Arsenal signed William Saliba for £27million in the 2019 summer transfer window after his impressive performance in his debut season which saw many French football pundits call him the Mbappe of defenders. The gunners decided to loan him back to Saint-Etienne since the Ligue one club had made it a big requirement that he would be loaned back to them for a year if you wanted to sign him and it’s reported that he was also happy with this decision as he wanted to continue to develop in France.
Kevin Campbell played for Arsenal from 1988 to 1995 and was in the squad that won the Football League First Division title in 1991 and also the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994. Campbell recently got involved in the Chronicles of a Gooner podcast and talked about how Arteta could implement Pep’s philosophy at Arsenal and how he needs players that would fit this system, the Englishman also said that he was happy that they atleast have William Saliba coming to the club in the summer and explained why the 19-year-old is an important asset.
“At least we’ve got a centre half, big, strong, quick, centre half who is going to go straight into that side, he has to.” said Kevin Campbell a podcast.
“If we can get Saliba in and bed him in nicely then at least the defence is a lot younger and is a lot stronger.”
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will soon start working with William Saliba and everyone will be looking forward to see how the young French centre back performs at the North London club because the fans have high expectations in him.
