RB Leipzig make statement about Dayot Upamecano amid links to Arsenal
Dayot Upamecano has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the last 12 months and RB Leipzig have made a comment about the future of their defender.
Arsenal have in the last few months been linked with a move for RB Leipzig centre back Dayot Upamecano and the fans have warmed the idea of the young Frenchman coming to the Emirates Stadium since he is considered to be one of the best young defenders in the world. RB Leipzig have now made an interesting comment about Upamecano’s future.
Dayot Upamecano has been impressive for RB Leipzig this season and he is one of the reasons why they’ve been among the Bundesliga title challengers as he and his teammate Konate have been an incredible wall for a side that plays dangerous expansive football. Upamecano was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer but it’s believed that the gunners backed off after it was clear that they wouldn’t be able to afford him since they had spent their fortune on Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.
The summer transfer window is fast approaching but it will definitely be different from others as no football is currently being played, and RB Leipzig’s sporting director has conceded that they might not be able to keep Upamecano but hopes that the 21-year-old makes careful decisions as they might affect his career in the future.
“This is a far reaching decision for a player. He should take his time with that. He has to be clear about exactly what he is going to do, how he sees his future.” Krosche told Kicker as per Football.London.
“Maybe that has changed a bit as a result of the new situation [COVID-19].”
Dayot Upamecano’s current contract at RB Leipzig will be ending in 2021 and the German club will definitely not be allowing him to leave for free hence giving Arsenal the opportunity to sign him. The COVID-19 has definitely affected football and many experts have already begun saying that we might not see many big money moves in the summer transfer and so if that the case, then he could go into a price that is within the range of the North Londoners.
