Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will be looking to improve his squad in the summer by signing new players and most reports have said that the Spanish has chosen Thomas Partey as his main transfer target in the upcoming transfer window. The gunners will however have to face a lot of difficulty since he has a release clause of £43million.

All Premier League clubs have suffered financially in the last few weeks since the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic has seen the shut down of Europe’s top five leagues and so signing new players in the summer will be hard since most clubs will basically be broke. The gunners could however get the amount for Partey through sales and we take a look at three players that Arteta would accept to be sold in order to raise funds.

1. LUCAS TORREIRA

Lucas Torreira arrived at Arsenal in 2018 and he had a great first season in England but he has however has failed to fully settle at the London club as his agent has in mostly pre-Emery sack times said that his client wouldn’t be against the idea of returning to Italy. Arsenal’s new boss Arteta also seems to not to be eager to be using Torreira as he has preferred using Ceballos and Xhaka over the Uruguayan international since they are better on the ball.

Realistically, Torreira is the only player that the gunners could easily get good money for and easily let go in if that makes sure that they bring Thomas Partey to the Emirates Stadium in the summer. Some clubs in Italy are already interested in Torreira and so the gunners wouldn’t fail to find a buyer if they put him on the transfer market.

2. AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has played as a right back in almost his full senior Arsenal career but he has however this season started complaining that he is not comfortable in this position since he is a midfielder and was rather just covering for the club in that position since Hector Bellerin was injured. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has already opened up how he was not happy with Maitland-Niles attitude and he had started leaving him out in most of the match day squads before the league came to an abrupt stop.

Maitland-Niles is 22 years old and so it is inevitable that he will be sold in this upcoming summer transfer window since they are way too many midfielders at the club ahead of him in the pecking order. He could however fetch the club a great amount since he is young and English.

3. HENRIKH MKHITARYAN

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was loaned to AS Roma in last year’s summer transfer window and he has been impressive for them that his manager made it public that he would be extremely happy if the deal was made permanent. The gunners will also probably welcome this idea since they don’t need Mkhitaryan since their young starlets like Martinelli and Saka have shown that they are ready and so Arteta might easily entertain the idea of selling the Armenian.

Mkhitaryan has also been saying that he is currently happy and the current understanding is that he would also welcome the idea of playing for AS Roma for many more seasons. It is believed that Arsenal would request for atleast £20million before letting go of him and so this would definitely be diverted towards the Thomas Partey deal.
