Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira speaks out on his future and his dream club
Lucas Torreira has been at Arsenal for two years now but he has however never seemed settled at the club and he is now speaking out on his future and dream club.
Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria in the 2018 summer transfer window and he was impressive in his first few months at the club but he has however not been at his best this season, and him and his agent having been hinting at a move away from the North Londoners. The Uruguayan international has spoken out on his future and dream club.
Lucas Torreira was deemed to be the next big thing when he arrived at Arsenal two years ago but things started falling apart in 2019 when the then Arsenal boss Unai Emery changed his role into being a box to box midfielder. The decision to play him in that position continued at the start of this season and he was not happy with this as he showed his unhappiness of not playing as a defensive midfielder anymore.
Lucas Torreira has however still continued in making hints at leaving Arsenal even with Unai Emery gone and in his latest interview, he claimed that his head is currently in Europe and that his dream is to play for the famous South American club Boca Juniors. The Arsenal midfielder also explains how him and his family begun supporting Boca.
“Right now my head is in Europe and I was to stay for a while, but I have that desire and dream to go [to Boca] – and not just to retire, but to compete and feel what the Boca world is.” Lucas Torreira told Copa Libertadores.
“My family is big soccer fans and we Uruguayans watch a lot of Argentine football. It is one of the most important in South America, very passionate, so from a very young age this affection, this love for Boca was born.”
Arsenal fans are still afraid that they might lose Lucas Torreira in the summer since his agent did say that the Uruguayan international wanted to return to Serie A. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal does accept to let go of Torreira as the fans would only accept the club letting him leave if they have brought someone as Partey.
