Atletico Madrid will be looking to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window and Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is one of the players that they are interested in. Lacazette joined Arsenal in 2017 but he has however been underwhelming this season and many fans have begun calling on the club to sell him.

Alexandre Lacazette has this season only scored nine goals so far and he even went on a goalless run of nine games at some point and this has ruined his relationship with the Arsenal fans as they have begun urging the club to let him go in this upcoming transfer window since he has been underwhelming during his time at the Emirates Stadium if you consider the fact that he cost the gunners €53million.

Atletico Madrid are understood to be interested in Lacazette but a report by Mundo Deportivo claims that the Spanish side will only sign the Arsenal striker if they fail to land their main target Paris Saint Germain’s Edison Cavani. They say that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone wants Cavani in his squad because he believes that he would suit his play style and if they don’t get him then they can make a move for Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette who once came close to joining their side but the move failed due to them getting transfer banned.

The Spanish outlet claims that Lacazette was once again targeted as PLAN B in the January transfer window and that the 28-year-old did enquire about Atletico Madrid through his friend Antonio Griezmann since he spent a long time there before making a move to Barcelona in 2019. Lacazette has only just two years remaining on his current contract at Arsenal and the club’s head of football Raul Sanllehi did say that the gunners would now stop players from entering the final years of their deal in order to avoid losing them for free or on a cheap price and so the gunners could either offer the Frenchman a new deal or sell him in either of the two upcoming transfer windows.
