Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their new head coach at the end of the year and he has had an impressive start to life as a boss as the gunners have massively improved. Shkodran Mustafi has also spoken out on why he believes Arteta is an impressive coach and says that the Spaniard is like a professor.
Shkodran Mustafi has been at Arsenal for a long time now and he has however struggled in the last two years as he has received immense criticism from the supporters but he has however been impressive in these first few months at the club. Mustafi has also in that period went back into the good books of the fans and he will be hoping it continues.
Mustafi has been a regular starter in Arteta’s first team and he has revealed that the Spanish coach is very impressive, and also says that he is sort of similar to a professor as he always knows how and where every player should, and what to do when you lose the ball.
“He knows exactly where he wants the players to be when on the ball and how to react when losing the ball. It’s very special.” Shkodran Mustafi told Sky Sports.
“When I pass I am usually only focused on where to be if we lose the ball but he wants me to contribute offensively too. So we constantly need to make an option for the player on the ball.”
“When you are 28 and you play in different countries with other coaches you think you know everything but then he came in and there are things I’ve never known before.”
Mikel Arteta has been hailed by almost everyone in the footballing world and so everyone will be curious to see how he performs in these upcoming seasons and as for players, Mustafi has obviously been impressed with him as he also added that he believes that the North Londoners could be a special team after spending a long time with him.
