Mikel Arteta reveals why his Arsenal side keep conceding late goals
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken out on why his team keep conceding goals in the last minutes hence losing games after their latest defeat in the North London Derby.
Arsenal appointed Mikel Arteta as their head coach in December last year and even though he has turned out to be a great appointment but he has however had a big problem of failing to finish off matches hence ending up losing or drawing games. This was once again seen in the recently concluded North London Derby.
Arsenal came into the match against Tottenham Hotspur with a lot of optimism since they were unbeaten in their last four matches and their North London rivals had just come from a miserable 0-0 draw in which Jose Mourinho’s side failed to get a shot on target. The gunners started off well in the game against Spurs but the home side came back into the game two minutes later thanks to a finish from Son and then lost the game in the final ten minutes of the game.
The match against Tottenham Hotspur was a game that the Arsenal fans have watched throughout this season as they have been losing games under Arteta in the last minutes of the game as evidenced in the Brighton loss or the UEFA Europa League defeat to Olympiacos. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was asked why this keeps happening and he claimed that it could be due to fatigue hence leading to errors.
“Sometimes errors are led by fatigue. We have made some errors and there have been some moments where it wasn’t about that, it was about paying attention at a short corner or not picking up your man from a corner, or just making an individual error or because the opponent does well in this league.” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal Media.
“It pushes you in the last 10 to 15 minutes and you have to suffer and sometimes you concede. We will look at that with more depth obviously but it is something where we have some margin to improve.”
