Arsenal have today announced that Emiliano Martinez has completed his move to Aston Villa for a fee believed to be around £20million and this deal has left a bitter feeling amongst the fanbase of the North Londoners as they understand he wants more first team minutes but they also were impressed with what he had shown and wanted him to stay.

Arsenal as a club will however have to move on and so the club has started the process of looking for a new goalkeeper that will be a back up for Bernd Leno as they can’t go into the 2020/21 campaign with only Macey as a second choice as the player has limited experience at the top level. Arsenal have reportedly identified French Ligue one side Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson as the perfect replacement for Emiliano Martinez and that they are in advanced talks with his club as per a report by Sky Sports.

Runar Alex Runarsson did not make a lot of appearances for Dijon last season as he was only given a start in 12 matches but it’s been widely believed that Arsenal was recommended this goalkeeper by their new goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana Pavon since he previously worked with him and his price might not be too costly for the North Londoners who will want to divert most of the funds got from the sale of Martinez to their midfield targets.

Runar Alex Runarsson has just two years remaining on his current contract at Dijon and so it shouldn’t be too hard for the North Londoners to get him as he could leave for less than £2million as per reports from France.
