Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar in the last month of the summer transfer window and there was indeed discussions between the clubs as the president of the French club confirmed it. Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has finally opened up on him staying in France despite him having been close to a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal was on the lookout for a new attacking midfielder in the recently closed summer transfer window as Arteta wanted a player that would bring creativity to his squad which had been one of the worst clubs in the Premier League when it comes to creativity and Houssem Aouar seemed to be the player with best profile for this role since he is a great modern midfielder that can play as either as an 8 or a 10.

There has been conflicting reports as to why Houssem Aouar’s move to Arsenal did not take happen but the most widely reported is that the gunners were priced out of an agreeable fee by Lyon hence the French 22 year old staying in France for this year’s 2020/21 campaign. Aouar was quiet throughout the most of the summer transfer window and he was this time asked if he was disappointed that his move to Arsenal didn’t go through and he says that he is happy at Lyon as it’s a club that he loves.

“Of course I asked myself all the necessary questions. I am in the headspace to have a great season with my club and get back the points that we have lost.” said Houssem Aouar as per TalkSPORT.

“So of course we are going to try to do the best season and to try to put the team and the club back in its rightful place, at the top of France. Disappointed? I am the opposite. I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family.”

I am a very stubborn person who is always very argumentative in football discussions but I always win. I like writing about transfer news most.
