It was on Sunday officially announced that Arsenal had parted ways with Mesut Ozil after the German international having been with the club since 2013 and this put an end to a transfer saga that had got tiring for the Arsenal supporters. The gunners via their official social media accounts announced that Mesut Ozil had left to join Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal in the 2013 summer transfer window and he was an outstanding signing irrespective of what happened in the last two years as he was one of the players that helped the gunners to end their trophy drought and was also involved in the other two FA Cup trophies that they went on to win. Mesut Ozil leaves Arsenal with the fan base spilt on him but most gooners will always appreciate his service to the club as he not only raised the club on the pitch but also it’s brand.

Arsenal did not include Mesut Ozil in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League squads for this season and it looks like that was too much for the German international as he opted to leave in this January transfer window to go to Fenerbahce to start playing football again. Mesut Ozil thanked the fans for their support in his goodbye message.

“I’d like to thank the club for this amazing journey over the past seven-and-a-half years. The support I have felt from the team and fans during my time here has been truly incredible and something I will always be grateful for.” said Mesut Ozil in a statement on Arsenal’s official website.

“Together we won trophies for the first time in years and created memories that will last a lifetime. The Arsenal fans will forever remain in my heart. I’d like to thank Edu Gaspar for helping bring about a professional and dignified solution in the past few days, and I wish everyone at the club the best in their attempt to continue to bring Arsenal back to the top, where we belong.”
