Arsenal striker and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to the starting eleven on Sunday when the gunners welcomed Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium and the gunners won the game 4-2 with the Gabonese international getting a hatrick. Aubameyang has spoken out on him scoring three goals and the recent personal problems that he has had.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed their matches against Southampton in the Emirates FA Cup and the Premier League due to personal family reasons which he later confirmed to have been about his mom who was hospitalised. Aubameyang returned to the squad some time back but he wasn’t immediately put back into the starting eleven until today and he repaid the trust put to him by scoring his first Premier League hatrick.

A joyful Aubameyang faced the media after the game and confirmed that it has indeed been a tough time for him but also said that it was now a time to start smiling and scoring goals. He also thanked everybody that has given him support and also dedicated the win and the hatrick to them.

“It’s been a tough time for me, but now it’s time to get the smile back and win games and score goals. I have to say thank you to everyone at the club and the fans as well because I received a lot of messages. The win and goals – this is for them.” Aubameyang told Sky Sports.

Aubameyang hasn’t been at his best this season and the Arsenal supporters will be happy that he scored three goals today as they will need him to be on form as they start their European campaign as it could be their only win way back into the UEFA Champions League.
