Mikel Arteta hints at the three important Arsenal players that will miss the game against Villarreal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hint at the three important players that will miss their game against Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League.
Arsenal will on Thursday face Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League semi finals and this will be a very important game for Mikel Arteta and his boys as their season could be considered a failure if they don’t win that competition. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will want all his best players to be available for the game since its an important one but he has however hint at three players that will miss it.
Arsenal lost 2-1 against Villarreal in the first leg but they will however hope to make a come back in the second leg to progress to the final since winning the UEFA Europa League might be their only way back into the UEFA Champions League but Mikel Arteta will have to do it without three of his important players as he has somewhat confirmed that they will miss this game.
Arsenal defender David Luiz got injured in the game against Newcastle United on Sunday and Mikel Arteta confirmed after the match in the press conference how the Brazilian international felt something in his hamstring.
“We don’t know. He felt something in his hamstring so it’s not good news. He’s put in such a shift to be back with the team for the last few weeks after the knee surgery. It’s a real shame.” said Arteta telling Arsenal Media.
Kieran Tierney and Alexandre Lacazette are two players that Arsenal fans thought would at least be in the matchday squad that faces Newcastle United but they were nowhere to be seen and Arteta had this to say about them, hinting at how they might not be available for the game against Villarreal on Thursday.
“They haven’t trained with the team yet so I think they’re unlikely to be.” said Arteta.
