Arsenal makes a decision on Joe Willock’s future amid Newcastle United interest
Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock was impressive while out on loan last season and the club has made a decision on his future amid Newcastle United interest.
Arsenal loaned Joe Willock to Newcastle United in the January transfer window and he had a wonderful year there as he went on to score more league goals than all the central midfielders that he left at the Emirates Stadium. The Arsenal fans have been waiting to see the club’s decision on Willock’s future in this transfer window and it looks like it has finally been made.
Arsenal decided to loan Joe Willock to Newcastle United at the start of the year since his chances of getting game time had reduced due to the arrival of Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard and the young Englishman went to impress at St James Park as he scored eight Premier League goals that were important in making The Magpies survive relegation.
Joe Willock has reported for pre-season of Arsenal this month ahead of the new season but he might however not stay as The Telegraph has reported that the 21 year old is likely to return to Newcastle United on a loan deal since the club might not be able to offer him game time next season despite impressing in the last six months of the 2020/21 campaign. The report claims that even though Mikel Arteta is yet to offer his green light, he and Willock feel it would be best if he leaves for Newcastle to get game time than simply being on the bench at the Emirates Stadium.
It is claimed that Joe Willock informed Arsenal of his intentions to return to Newcastle United when he returned and that Steve Bruce’s side was fully confident that they would get the 21 year old back in this summer transfer window.
