Maitland-Niles sends an emotional message to Arsenal on his Instagram page
An unhappy Maitland-Niles has sent Arsenal a message through his Instagram story.
Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles has spoken out about his desire regarding his future.
In an emotional message on his Instagram story Maitland-Niles wrote: “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play @arsenal”, followed by crying emojis.
Maitland-Niles has played majority of his Arsenal career as a right-back although playing in midfield is his preferred position.
The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom and has only made one appearance for Arsenal this season.
He made a substitute appearance in the 6-0 win over West Brom, where he managed to setup a goal. Fans have wondered why he hasn’t been given an opportunity to start at right-back or in midfield.
According to Sky Sports Everton are trying to sign Maitland-Niles on loan and have made an offer. The offer reportedly includes an option to buy the versatile England international.
However, the Gunners may want to keep the utility man for the season given the lack of options in midfield due to injuries and suspensions as well as disappointing performances from Cedric and Callum Chambers at right-back.
Maitland-Niles is frustrated with his fortunes at Arsenal in his message and will have until August 31 to make a move.
