Mikel Arteta speaks out on Crystal Palace victory and possibility of new signings
Arsenal started the new season with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in South London.
Arsenal have started the new season with a 2-0 vin over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The Gunners took the lead in the 20th minute through Gabriel Martinelli, the Brazilian nodded Zinchenko’s headed cross into the back of the net.
Arsenal doubled their lead in the closing stages after Marc Guehi turned Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net.
Mikel Arteta was a happy man at full-time and this to say: “The most important thing is to win the first match. It builds confidence, it builds momentum & then you can talk & think about the things we have to improve, which there were a few today.”
Last season Arsenal had a difficult start to the season, losing their opening three games including a 2-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening day. However, this time the Gunners had everything in control.
Arteta heaped the praise on William Saliba who got the man of the match award on his first Premier League appearance.
“To sign a player at 19 and bring him back 2 years later is unusual and he’s been so determined and willing to come here and now prove the point that he’s ready. Now we are exposing him in a really difficult environment where he can be comfortable enjoy as well. I think he was superb tonight”
Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal will try to complete more signings: “We are going to try. There are a few things we have planned”. ⚪️🔴 #AFC
