Mikel Arteta reveals what he learned from his mentor Pep Guardiola
Mikel Arteta spent three years with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and the Arsenal boss has opened up about what he learned from the former Barcelona manager.
Mikel Arteta spent a lot of years at the Emirates Stadium after having been signed by Arsene Wenger and he even was chosen as the captain of the North Londoners until his retirement in 2016. Mikel Arteta wanted to venture into coaching after his retirement and he then made the decision to go join Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach.
Mikel Arteta was one of Guardiola’s assistant coaches as the former Barcelona manager started his domination of the Premier League and he then left after three years after getting the call from Arsenal who had decided to make him their head coach after sacking Unai Emery. Everyone did not know what to expect from Mikel Arteta as a manager for Arsenal but we are now in 2022 and the fans of the North Londoners are currently very happy with the Spanish manager.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was recently asked about what he learned from his time at Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach and he explained that it was incredible to be part of that project.
“I learned a lot about being at the top from Pep. The standards that are set at the club are not only to win but to win in a certain way every three days, and be extremely demanding and critical and at the same time supportive, so it’s a good mixture.” said Arteta as per The Mirror.
“It was incredible to be part of that team and the evolution and how that team was built. I will always be grateful.”
