Arsenal have submitted a second offer for Moises Caicedo, the 21-year-old midfielder from Brighton & Hove Albion. The offer is reportedly worth up to £70 million, but Brighton are said to be holding out for an £80 million fee as per Daily Mail.

The news comes after Caicedo stayed away from training on Saturday due to a communication from the club , in what was seen as a punishment for the open plea statement that he had made on social media urging Brighton & Hove Albion to sell him in this January transfer window. The Gunners are now hoping to complete the transfer before the January transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Caicedo has been one of the most impressive young players in South American football over the past few years, and his performances for Ecuador’s national team have earned him plenty of admirers. He has also been linked with moves to Chelsea.

At 21 years old, Caicedo is already an experienced player and could provide Arsenal with a long-term solution in midfield. He is known for his ability to break up play and win back possession, as well as his passing range.

The Gunners have already signed Leandro Trossard from funnily Brighton & Hove Albion this month, and also brought in centre back Jakub Kiwior from Spezia but they are still looking to add more quality in midfield areas as we start the second half of the season. Time is running out for Arsenal to get a deal done for Caicedo. It remains to be seen if they can agree on a fee with Brighton before Wednesday night’s deadline.
