Jorginho Luiz Frello Filho becomes Arsenal’s third January signing
Arsenal have ended the transfer window with a bang as they have completed the signing of Jorginho Luiz Frello Filho from Chelsea.
Arsenal have completed the signing of Jorginho from Chelsea for £12million on the deadline day of the January transfer window. The 31 year old midfielder has signed a deal until 2024 with an option to extend it for a further year.
The Italian international has been a key player for Chelsea since joining them in 2018, making over 100 appearances and winning the UEFA Champions League among other trophies.
Speaking about the signing, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said:
“Jorginho is a midfield player with intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience. Jorginho has won in his career, but he still has the hunger and huge willingness to contribute here.” said Mikel Arteta on Arsenal’s website.
Arsenal fans can be understandably optimistic about what the 31 year old midfield maestro brings in terms of depth and how it could potentially restore balance among other players in order to provide fresh energy when tackling continuous fixture congestion.
The signing of Jorginho might not be a statement of intent from Arsenal as they look to build on their recent successes under Arteta’s management but the fans will just trust in their boss as its claimed that he is the one that specifically requested for the Italian midfielder. With his leadership qualities and technical ability, he could prove to be a key addition to the squad as they look to challenge for honours this season.
