Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the recovery of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, who recently suggested that a comeback in four or five weeks was a possibility. The forward has been out of action since December after sustaining an injury in the World Cup.

“With him I don’t know, he wants to be back in next week!. That’s obviously totally unrealistic but he’s pushing and driving everybody in the medical team to the limit. I cannot give you an answer; hopefully it’ll be weeks and not months but it was a serious injury and we need to respect that process as well.” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal Media.

The 25-year-old striker was one of Arsenal’s best players in the Premier League pre World Cup and the gunners were devastated to learn that he had sustained an injury while on international duty for the Brazil national football team.

Jesus’ return will be greatly appreciated by Arsenal as they look to build up some much-needed momentum of continuing to win so that they don’t lose their top spot on the Premier League table to Manchester City who still believe they can snatch the title from the North Londoners.

Arteta will no doubt benefit from having Gabriel Jesus return to the Arsenal squad but he will however be glad that the gunners have been alright in his absence since Eddie Nketiah has made that position his own after a number of impressive performances.

I enjoy football so much and I am in love with Arsenal Football Club. I always watch the matches and will always give you my opinions about the game here.
