Arsenal 1-3 Manchester City: How it went down
Arsenal have on Wednesday night lost their first position on the Premier League table after Manchester City defeated them 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Emirates Stadium was the venue for a highly anticipated clash between Arsenal and Manchester City on Wednesday night. The two sides have been in good form of late, and it was expected to be a close game.
It was Man City who struck first, with Kevin De Bruyne finishing in great style from a Takehiro Tomiyasu backpass. Arsenal responded well and were awarded a penalty after Ederson fouled Eddie Nketiah. Bukayo Saka made no mistake from the spot, and the scores were level at 1-1 at half-time.
The second half saw Man City take control of the game, and they restored their lead through Jack Grealish on 72 minutes. The visitors then put the game beyond doubt when Haaland finished off a fine move involving De Bruyne to make it 3-1.
Arsenal were excellent in the first half, but they couldn’t keep it up after the break. Man City were dominant throughout, and they deservedly went top of the table with this victory. It was an entertaining encounter between two teams who are both pushing for honours this season, but ultimately it was Manchester City who came out on top.
This result will be a disappointment for Arsenal fans, but there were plenty of positives to take away from this performance. They showed that they can compete with one of the best teams in Europe, and if they can maintain their first-half performance levels then they will be a force to be reckoned with this season.
