When Jorginho made the move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the January transfer window, it was clear that Mikel Arteta had played a major role in his decision. The Italian midfielder had been linked with a move to the Gunners for some time, and Arteta’s influence was key in finally getting the deal over the line.

Jorginho himself has acknowledged this, saying;

“He was a big influence because I know that he tried a few times to get me before and it didn’t happen due to other reasons, not because of my wishes. So of course, he had a big influence.” Jorginho told Arsenal Media.

Arteta had been keen on signing Jorginho since he took over as Arsenal manager in December 2019. He saw him as an ideal fit for his style of play and wanted to add him to his midfield options. However, Chelsea were unwilling to let him go at first and so Arteta had to wait until January 2023 before he could finally get his man.

The Spaniard’s persistence paid off though as Jorginho eventually moved across London for a £12million fee. He will become an important part of Arteta’s team, providing defensive stability and creativity from midfield. His passing range and ability on the ball will be particularly impressive, will help Arsenal control possession and create chances in attack.

In addition to his footballing qualities, Jorginho will bring leadership qualities to the team which will be invaluable during this stressful period for Arsenal. His experience at Chelsea has will him to provide guidance both on and off the pitch which is helping younger players develop their game.

Overall then it is clear that Mikel Arteta played a major role in bringing Jorginho to Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023. His persistence paid off as he finally got his man after months of trying, with Jorginho now proving an important part of his team both on and off the pitch.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
