Early predicted Arsenal lineup to face Sporting Lisbon on Thursday
The UEFA Europa League will return this week and Arsenal will face Sporting Lisbon away from home, and here is the predicted lineup that Arteta is likely to use.
Arsenal is set to face Sporting Lisbon on Thursday in their UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie. Mikel Arteta is likely to continue using the 4-3-3 formation that he has been using for most of the season.
The predicted Arsenal lineup for this game is Aaron Ramsdale; Kieran Tierney, William Saliba, Rob Holding, Tomiyasu; Granit Xhaka, Jorginho, Odegaard; Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal has been performing well in the Premier League this season as they are currently sitting at the top of the league table. However, they have a crucial Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon this week. It will be interesting to see how Arteta manages his squad for this game.
One change that might happen in the Arsenal lineup is Rob Holding starting instead of Gabriel Magalhaes. This could be a tactical move by Arteta to give some rest to Gabriel and also to give Holding some game time. Holding has been impressive whenever he has played this season and could be a valuable addition to the Arsenal defense.
Reiss Nelson is expected to get a start after scoring a crucial goal on Saturday in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth. His performance in that game showed that he can be a valuable asset for Arsenal going forward.
Jorginho is predicted to start in Thomas Partey’s position so that the Ghanaian international gets some rest. Jorginho has been impressive whenever he has played this season and could provide some much-needed stability in midfield.
Kieran Tierney and Tomiyasu might start on Thursday ahead of Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko since they other two deserve a rest.
In attack, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are expected to start alongside Reiss Nelson. Martinelli has been impressive whenever he has played this season and his pace and energy could cause problems for Sporting Lisbon’s defense. Saka, on the other hand, has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season and his creativity could be key in unlocking Sporting Lisbon’s defense.
Overall, it will be interesting to see how Arteta manages his squad for this crucial Europa League tie against Sporting Lisbon. With Arsenal sitting at the top of the Premier League table, they will want to continue their good form in Europe as well. The predicted lineup looks strong on paper and if they can perform well on the day, they should be able to secure a positive result against Sporting Lisbon.
