Arteta reveals the Arsenal star that will miss the game against West Ham United
Arsenal will this weekend face West Ham United away from home and gunners manager Mikel Arteta has revealed a player that will miss this game.
Arsenal will face West Ham United on Sunday at the London Stadium in what promises to be an exciting encounter. The Gunners are currently leading the Premier League table with 73 points after 30 games, but they are closely followed by second-placed Manchester City, who have 67 points plus a game in hand.
However, Arsenal will have to do without their star centre back William Saliba for this game. Saliba got injured a few weeks ago in Arsenal’s loss to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Europa League. The young defender has been impressive this season as he started 27 Premier League games for the Gunners before he got injured.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has revealed that Saliba is still not available for selection. However, he added that the player is progressing well and they are hopeful that he will be available in the next few weeks.
“William is still not available. He is progressing well and we are hopeful we are going to have him available in the next few weeks.” said Arteta telling reporters.
Saliba’s absence will be a blow for Arsenal as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the table. The Gunners have been solid defensively this season, Saliba has been a key part of their defence and his absence could leave them vulnerable at the back.
However, Arsenal have other quality defenders who can step up in Saliba’s absence. Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding have formed a solid partnership at the heart of Arsenal’s defence and they will be expected to continue their good form against West Ham United.
In conclusion, Arsenal will face a tough test against West Ham United on Sunday without William Saliba. However, they have the quality to get past their opponents and maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners will need to be at their best defensively and offensively if they are to come away with all three points.
