Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that William Saliba will not be taking part in their match against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The young defender got injured a few weeks ago in Arsenal’s defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Europa League.

Saliba featured in 27 of the 28 games Arsenal has played so far this season and his absence will undoubtedly affect the performance of the team. However, Arteta is optimistic about the defender’s progress and has not ruled out a return before the end of the season.

Speaking on Saliba’s injury and possible return to the team, Arteta said as per Goal, “Back injuries are a bit tricky, how they evolve with the load in certain areas but he’s very positive about it, the medical staff are positive about it, so let’s push it every day a little bit and see how he copes with that and how the pain develops. He’s so willing to be back with the team.”

With Arsenal currently on top of the Premier League table with 69 points after 28 games, the team is in a title race. Manchester City, who is second on the table with 61 points plus a game in hand, closely follows them. Hence, every game is crucial for Arsenal, and the absence of Saliba could be a blow to the team.

Despite this, Arsenal has an excellent team with capable defenders, and Arteta is confident in their ability to carry on without Saliba. His comments seem to suggest that the team is working hard to ensure the young defender returns as soon as possible, and there’s hope that he will feature once more before the end of the season.

Injuries are a natural occurrence in football, and teams must rely on the rest of their squad to fill the gaps left by the absence of key players. Arsenal has faced such challenges in the past, and through teamwork and resilience, they have overcome varying obstacles.

Saliba’s injury may have come at a crucial point in the season, but Arsenal is confident in their ability to maintain their form and stand tall on top of the Premier League table. Whatever happens, Saliba’s return will be a boost to the squad, and the team is keen to have him back as soon as possible. Despite his absence, Arsenal remains focused on achieving their goals this season.
