Report: Arteta puts on summer sale three Arsenal players as rebuild planned
The current 2022/23 season will soon come to an end and a report has now revealed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is planning to axe three players in the summer transfer window.
As Arsenal prepare for a busy summer transfer window, Mikel Arteta has reportedly decided to put three players up for sale. Granit Xhaka, Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun are all said to be available for the right price as per The Mirror.
Swiss midfielder Xhaka has been a regular in the Arsenal team since his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016. However, he has often divided opinion among fans and has been linked with a move away from the club in the past. It now seems that Arteta is willing to let him go as he looks to reshape his squad ahead of next season.
Scottish left-back Tierney was one of Arsenal’s standout performers some time back, but injuries have disrupted his progress and with the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer, he’s chances in the starting eleven have reduced. Despite this, he remains highly rated by Arteta and the club’s hierarchy. However, with the Gunners looking to bring in new reinforcements at full-back, Tierney could be on his way out as he might not want to be a back up of Zinchenko.
Balogun is a highly-rated young striker who has impressed in Arsenal’s academy setup. He was loaned to a French Ligue side last summer and he has torn apart the league as he has scored countless goals there. However, Arsenal might not promise him regular game time due to Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, and so he could be on his way out.
It remains to be seen how much interest there will be in these players, but Arsenal will hope to recoup significant fees if they do decide to sell. The Gunners are set for Champions League football next season after a five-year absence and will want to strengthen their squad accordingly.
Despite being top of the Premier League table with just five games remaining, Arsenal face stiff competition from Manchester City in the title race. Arteta will hope that his side can maintain their form until the end of the season and secure a first league title since 2004.
In conclusion, Arsenal are set for a busy summer as they look to build on their progress under Arteta. Xhaka, Tierney and Balogun could all be on their way out of the club, but the Gunners will be hoping to bring in quality replacements to take them to the next level.
